My name is Sue Ashforth. Animals have always been my passion. I got my own dog when I was about 17 after announcing to my parents that Pebbles, a yellow Labrador was being dropped off ! Things progressed from there :-)
I first started on my teaching path as a BHSAI teaching horse riding.
After that ,for a few years after I worked in various office jobs but they just weren't for me.
I then worked for the Cats Protection until the shelter shut after cut backs.
For 11.5 years I worked for O'Meara Vets in Ewell ( now Goddards ) and when it changed hands in 2009, I set up Happy Pets Services, originally offering dog walking and cat feeding services as well as training.
I am a qualified dog trainer and my passion is agility , hoopers and scent work . I regularly update my own skills..
I have 5 lovely dogs of my own, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 2 Romanian rescues a Bosnian rescue puppy and a Sprocker who I hope to compete with in Agility in the future.
Sadly I no longer have any cats of my own having lost the last 4 within 10 months of each other all at the great ages of 17-21 years old.
I have had a variety of dogs over the years many being rescues. A German Shepherd, Labradors, several Cavalier King Charles Spaniels one of whom was an ex- breeding dog and my foreign rescue dogs. so I am used to building confidence in rescue dogs.
I enjoy a range of training with my own dogs, agility. hoopers, scent work and tricks training. Having rescue dogs with 'issues' has also encouraged me to broaden my skills in behaviour work and I am currently studying to become a qualified behaviourist with a niche to helping dogs with resource guarding and separation anxiety and distress.
I am a Gold Member of the Pet Professional Network, having undergone a personal assessment, ensuring I meet their high standards and force free philosophy,
I use reward based training incorporating cleverly designed games, that makes training your dog a fun experience for you both..
I am fully insured with Pet Business Insurance.
We hold our dog dog training classes in Cheam Surrey.
I no longer offer cat feeding or dog walking and now focus entirely on training.
Sam Arnold is my Co Dog Trainer. As well as dog training Sam is also a very experienced dog walker. Sam has 2 dogs of her own a Working Cocker Spaniel and a Rescue Staffy Crossbreed.
Sam and I are committed to furthering our own learning through CPD so we can offer you the best learning experience.
We realised over the years that we regularly saw other dog owners struggling with their dogs and the frustration that accompanied it, and decided to offer bespoke dog training to help turn their struggles into strengths.
