I will be running some themed 2 hour events starting with Halloween themed mantrailing in October and Find Santa mantrailing in December. These are open to anyone whether you have done mantrailing with me before or not. There will be prizes for the best dressed dog and handler .( Not compulsory and please don't dress your dog if they are not comfortable )
Would you love to do some mantrailing with your dog but don't have time to commit to weekly classes.
Done for fun, this is sometimes referred to as Sport trailing. This workshop will really get your dog using their nose.
In this 2 hour workshop I will teach you the basics of getting your dog to search for and track a person.
You will need a harness and a longline ( I can loan a longline if you don't have one for the workshop)
As we search with the dogs on a longline you do not need to worry if you don't have a great recall.
We start with short searches in a linear (straight line) to create confidence and then progress to longer searches with some turns or different terrain.
Limited to 4 spaces
The cost is £37.50
Please go to the Book Online page and choose your preferred date
Would you like to do scentwork with your dog but don't have time to commit to weekly classes ? This 2 hour workshop will teach you the basics of how to classically condition the scent. Start to teach an indication, how to start a search and then some simple searches.
You will receive a kit to get you started so you can practice what you have learnt at home.
This workshop will be limited to 6 dogs and costs £40.
This is a 2 hour workshop focussing entirely on recall.
Recall is key to having an off lead dog and there is nothing worse than letting your dog go and then not knowing where they are or what they are up to. It's not only stressful for you but could be very dangerous for your dog.
Good training foundations are the secret to good recall, starting with focus. and engagement
We will work on several techniques to get your dog wanting to engage with you and not spend their time doing what they like in the environment.
I will also be teaching a STOP as part of this workshop. If you would like to train it using a whistle (recommended) please bring your whistle with you.
Whistles that I recommend are either a 210.5 or 211.5 pitch as these will stay the same whoever blows them and can be easily replaced with exactly the same pitched whistle should you lose it. If you use another whistle and change it you would need to go through pairing the new pitch over again.
You will be required to put some time in at home , as with any training repetition is the key to learning. All exercises will be done on a longline so your dog can't rehearse the behaviour of running off.
Our training is reward based and designed to be fun for both you and your dog as we want you to succeed . We use both food, toys and play to motivate your dog.
Everything you learn in class will be sent to you as recorded videos via WhatsApp for you to refer to whenever you need to as you continue your training.. There may be times when you need to go back and top up your training especially if you have a young dog.
The cost of this two hour workshop is £35.
Teaching your dog to do some cool tricks is not only fun but can be very rewarding as it gets your dog to focus on you and builds a bond.
This 2 hour workshop will teach you several tricks that you can put together.
The benefits to teaching your dog new tricks, mean they will learn more quickly because your teaching skills will improve as will your dog’s ability to understand the training game and learn most efficiently.
Your dog’s overall obedience and their manners are also likely to improve as they focus on you more than distractions around them. This means you will have a dog who knows fun tricks you can show off to friends and family, but also a dog whose behaviour is generally more pleasant to be around.
Trick training is likely to result helping build muscle tone and stamina, increased flexibility, balance and concentration, as well as giving a boost to your dog’s confidence. Each new behaviour you teach will give you another way to channel your dog’s energy into something positive.
This is a 2 1/2 hour workshop to introduce you and your dog to both searching and retrieving hidden scented items and also how to search and track a lost person ( me). known as mantrailing.
You will learn how to make sure you do not contaminate your search items.
How to start your dog off on a search. (different to a scent work start if you have already done this with your dog, so the dog learns the difference between passive and active searching )
To start with simple linear searches to get the dogs confidence and then some more complex searches.
The cost is £45
